Artu Napoli in the PC Hooftstraat of Eindhoven
Since 11 September last a brand new Artu Napoli shop has come to the characteristic Hooghuisstraat. The elegant, monumental premise has been freshly painted and invites you to come and take a look inside. Rinie Rovers and his (lifelong) partner Pascale van Bussel together form the ideal entrepreneurial couple and feel at home with the brand and the soft form of franchising.
She is a fashion lover by definition and he thrives best on everything that makes entrepreneurship exciting. Rinie: "Pascale and I both have entrepreneurial roots. My mother did hair products and after my Business Economics studies I also joined. Pascale's parents started a fashion business in the centre of Eindhoven, which is now run by Pascale. I have worn Artu Napoli for years and at the end of 2014 a number of things came together, such as: finding this beautiful historic building, talking with the owners and the drive to tackle a new challenge."
Selling is out, perception is in
Rinie and Pascale think it is important to have well-trained people in their shop. Branch manager Marlène Jansen is responsible for the daily running of the business and manages the staff. Rinie and Pascale can regularly be found on the shop floor, because customers are keen to get to know the people behind the shop. "Happily, we have now left the time of quick selling and short-term thinking behind us", says Rinie. I don't believe in that sort of entrepreneurship. Attention, attention and even more attention in all sorts of ways and all sorts of aspects. High-quality service: being honest, accessible and negotiable."
If in doubt, just do it!
The couple's characters also go together seamlessly. Pascale: "Whereas I find it difficult to speak out clearly and manage expectations, Rinie is businesslike, critical and direct." "But then I miss that finer feeling and that endless fashion knowledge", adds Rinie. "And that is entrepreneurship. Burying yourself in areas you know less about and committing yourself to it for 100%. Because after all those years I have learnt: Does it feel good? Then give everything. Doesn't it work? Let it go."
Doing business differently
It is no mere accident that Rinie and Pascale started an Artu Napoli business. Rinie: "I became enthusiastic about the story of the founders of the brand. Three young men who do business differently. That attracts me. I also wanted a mono-brand store, so that I could offer the customer a total package. With us you can buy not just clothes, but also perfumes, belts, books and watch straps. We appreciate the freedom we enjoy, in spite of it being a franchise business. It is our shop and it also feels like it is really our own shop.
